Practicum Opportunity for Student Therapists
Uplift Therapy for Men is excited to offer practicum placements for motivated student therapists. This placement provides hands-on clinical experience working with men of all ages and diverse backgrounds. As a student therapist, you will play a key role in supporting our Affordable Therapy Program, helping make mental health services more accessible to individuals who may face financial barriers. If you are passionate about men’s mental health and eager to develop your therapeutic skills, this is the ideal opportunity for you!
Placement Overview
As a student therapist, you will gain valuable experience providing both in-person and virtual therapy sessions. You’ll work under clinical supervision while supporting clients through evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to support marketing efforts by contributing to blog posts and social media content, helping you gain exposure and experience in mental health advocacy and outreach. You will also receive administrative support to help manage client care and documentation.
Responsibilities
Provide in-person and virtual therapy sessions through Uplift’s Affordable Therapy Program.
Collaborate with clients to develop personalized treatment plans.
Deliver psychoeducation and therapeutic support on mental health topics.
Maintain accurate and professional clinical documentation.
Participate in team meetings, peer consultations, and case discussions.
Stay updated on advancements in therapeutic techniques and integrate them into practice.
Assist with marketing efforts, including writing blog posts and contributing to social media content to promote mental health awareness.
Qualifications
Enrolled in a Master’s program in Psychotherapy (Emmanuel College, University of Toronto or Yorkville University)
Membership with a relevant governing body or proof of student membership (e.g., CRPO, OCSWSSW).
Training in evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, ACT, DBT, SFBT, or others) is an asset.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both in-person and virtual settings.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical guidelines.
Fluency in a second language is an asset but not required.
Additional Skills (Preferred but Not Required)
Experience facilitating group therapy or a willingness to learn and lead group sessions.
Interest or training in areas such as trauma, mindfulness, or other areas.
Interest in mental health advocacy through writing and social media engagement.
