Meet John
Are you struggling with anxiety, stress, overwhelmed, lack of confidence or relationship challenges? Many men suffer in silence, feeling ashamed or uncertain about seeking help. But reaching out for support is not a sign of weakness—it’s a powerful step toward personal growth and well-being.
I’m John, a Registered Psychotherapist and the Founder and Director of Uplift Therapy for Men in Etobicoke, Ontario. I created Uplift because I recognized a significant gap in mental health support for men and fathers. I struggled to find a therapist who understood the unique pressures men face, and I wanted to change that. My practice is dedicated to helping men navigate life’s changes and challenges—whether in their careers, relationships, or personal development.
How I Can Support You
If you're seeking clarity in your life purpose, confidence in your goals, or a balance between work and family, I’m here to help you build the life you want. I specialize in guiding men to:
Balance work and family life more effectively
Manage stress and rediscover joy
Express emotions in healthy, constructive ways
Build self-confidence and take meaningful action
You don’t have to stay stuck in a cycle of busyness and dissatisfaction. Therapy can equip you with the tools and support you need to create a purposeful, balanced, and emotionally fulfilling life.
Why Work With Me
I understand how difficult it can be to open up about personal struggles because I’ve been there myself. In my own life, I navigated the loss of my father and the pressure to fit into traditional ideas of masculinity. That experience taught me the importance of redefining what it means to be a man—on your own terms.
This personal journey, combined with years of clinical experience, allows me to connect with men in an authentic and understanding way. I offer practical tools and strategies tailored to help you manage stress, build confidence, and create a more balanced, fulfilling life.
My approach isn’t about quick fixes—it’s about guiding you toward lasting change. I provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore challenges and take meaningful steps toward personal growth.
Let’s Work Together
You don’t have to navigate these struggles alone. Therapy offers a supportive space to openly discuss your challenges and develop practical strategies for a happier, healthier life.
Reach out today—let’s start this journey together.

Types of Therapy
-
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) helps you develop a kind and understanding relationship with yourself. If you struggle with self-criticism and shame, CFT teaches you to recognize these negative thoughts and replace them with self-compassion. By practicing mindfulness and self-soothing techniques, you learn to manage difficult emotions better and build resilience. This approach allows you to feel more connected to yourself and others, ultimately improving your mental well-being.
-
In Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, you’ll find that the focus is on finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems. This therapy helps you identify your goals and the steps you can take to achieve them. By exploring your strengths and past successes, you gain confidence in your ability to make positive changes in your life. This goal-oriented approach empowers you and motivates you to overcome obstacles, leading to quick and meaningful progress.
-
Narrative Therapy allows you to view your life as a story that you can rewrite. It helps you separate yourself from the problems you face, enabling you to see your strengths and capabilities. By exploring the narratives you've created about your experiences, you can challenge negative beliefs and reshape your story into one that reflects your values and aspirations. This process helps you gain a sense of agency, encouraging you to take control of your life and build a more positive future.
-
Through Applied Positive Psychology, especially the PERMAV model, you learn to focus on key elements that contribute to your happiness and well-being: Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Accomplishment. This framework encourages you to cultivate gratitude, build strong connections, and pursue activities that bring you joy. By enhancing these areas in your life, you can improve your overall happiness and resilience, making it easier to cope with challenges and setbacks.
-
In Spiritually-Integrated Therapy, particularly through Buddhist principles, you explore mindfulness and compassion as tools for self-discovery and healing. This approach helps you become more present in your life, reducing anxiety and stress. By learning to observe your thoughts and emotions without judgment, you cultivate a sense of peace and acceptance. Integrating spiritual practices into therapy allows you to connect with deeper meanings in your life, enhancing your overall well-being and sense of purpose.
